Reached the Top 6 in Amazon Transcend Competition
My team reached the finals of Amazon Transcend 2024, pairing first-hand operations insight with a proposal to improve last-mile delivery efficiency.
Amazon Transcend was a chance to take on a real operational challenge with a team that brought different perspectives to the work. Alongside Mostafa Mohamed, Ahmed Elsisi, and Mohamed Absawy, I advanced through the semi-finals and reached the final round, finishing among the competition's top six teams.
The experience connected engineering, logistics, and leadership in a practical setting. It asked us to move beyond a promising idea and develop a solution that could make a measurable difference in how last-mile operations work.
Designing for the last mile
Our team designed a solution projected to improve last-mile operations efficiency by 75%, with potential annual savings of $1.67 billion. Building the proposal meant balancing ambitious impact with the operational realities behind getting an order from the warehouse to a customer's door.
The final presentation was an opportunity to turn that work into a clear story: define the problem, explain the operational value, and show how the idea could move from concept to execution.
Learning from operations
Visiting an Amazon warehouse brought the scale and precision of the operation into focus. Seeing the logistics and engineering systems in action gave our team a more grounded view of the decisions that shape the customer experience from the first mile to the last.
Mentoring and training sessions on IT operations and leadership were equally valuable. They challenged us to communicate our thinking with more clarity, listen closely to feedback, and make decisions as a team under time pressure.
A shared achievement
